I find it interesting that the Wikipedia Dog Agility section is controlled by one person. This is a person who edits out information other than what she wants them to see on this public, information website.
My husband posted the Agility Vision link to Wikipedia last night and within a few hours it was off again. Wow, what a dictator!
I guess she doesn't appreciate the fact that Agility Vision allows everyone's contributions to agility and our dogs.
Amazing that she has nothing better to do than to control her little section. I hope it's a fulfilling obsession.

Wikipedia
If you click on the History tab within Wikipedia you'll see an explanation of why the link to Agility Vision has been removed. Wikipedia doesn't necessarily consider forums and blogs appropriate material for an encyclopedia. Further, they are under the impression that Agility Vision is wallpapered with ads.
I actually think the editor there has done a terrific job giving a balanced history of the sport and fair treatment to the various agility organizations in this country. And they've done impressive research, even remembering a place in history for Bob & Marylou Baskin's AAA out of Colorado. For the longest time every weekend that the USDAA had a trial scheduled down in Pueblo Marylou would schedule a AAA trial in Denver to keep people away from that devil upstart USDAA. They very successfully "owned" Colorado in the early years of agility. However when the AKC/Borg came along they could no longer resist ("resistance is futile!") and now they are just a footnote in history.

link to wikipedia
Here is a link to the entry on dog agility in wikipedia. I think the article is very good. I had never heard of AAA before.
The editor is just very particular about what external links they are allowing. At one point there were a lot more links listed, then one day they really paired it down.

I agree that the dog agility site is good. It is quite extensive. But when it's controlled by mainly one person, it's a bit biased.
There's no harm in allowing people to have access to other sources. I know other topics that have good links to "forum" sites that aren't removed due to one persons ideals.

I just installed a web links feature. So now everyone can add in all the agility related links that they want.
I remember when I was new to agility using the list of links on dogpatch a lot. But I don't think it is maintained any more.ÂÂ

I had difficulty finding the link you were referring to as your link that took me to the original entry had so many intrusive ads in the middle that I had difficulty finding the link. In case others have the same problem, here's the link.

Wikipedia - file needed to play video of agility run
To play the video of the example agility run at the end of the article in Windows Media player you need some codecs. Here's the link to the file you need to download and install. ÂÂ

I had a devil of a time finding this, so I thought I would share what I found.

intrusive
Well, right now it is setup to display one ad at the beginning of each article or blog. And one at the end of each article or blog. Which seems reasonable.
But in the case of a link which is pretty short, I agree it is probably too much. I will try to write some code to differentiate between a long and a short page.
For those of you who want to support the development of Agility Vision or find the ads too annoying you can make a donation, $20 minimum, and I will disable the ads for you.
