As with politics, give people a choice and half will go left and half go right. The same seems to be true of dog agility. This interesting sequence came from the first part of the Steeplechase Finals at USDAA Nationals 2006.
The dogs started out with 3 jumps, to the weaves and are now head back toward jump #1. They have the choice of wrapping left or right. If executed properly going to the right has to result in a faster time due to the greatly reduced yardage. See Mark Bowerman and Sybil for a beautiful example. But of course it is never as simple as that.

and what about the potential
and what about the potential to have a longer parts to accelerate over a longer stretch??? or versus one sharp or 2 sharp turns ?
May I ask between what and what you have timed it as IMO the whole purpose of the choise relates all the way to the shute and beyond even (in this course) (considering dogs capabilitys and handlers positionings at variois points along the way fro the next guidance
