Playing Grand Prix Regional - Decaff vs Jayci - Sept 06

This is a side by side of Decaff (1st place) & Jayci (2nd place) from round 2 of the Grand Prix Bay Team Regional September 4th, 2006. Jayci appears to be ahead the entire run until the down plank of the dogwalk. Where Decaff never broke stride and passed Jayci by on the second to last obstacle of the course.

Interesting side note. The run shown is actually Jayci's second run, due to a timer malfunction on his first. Melissa Hennings (Jayci's handler and owner) told the judge Frank Holik that she would like to use the video to get her time. Frank said that she could not do that and would have to rerun for time.

For a run as important as a Grand Prix second round run, that determines who gets the bye into the finals I would think you would want the most accurate time available. It clearly says in the rules that video can be consulted in matters of time. For the judge to say that she would have to rerun is either ignorance or laziness on the judges part.

As matter of fact, my videos were consulted a couple times last year at the Nationals. Fortunately the rerun did not affect the final placements, even though the run was a good half second faster.

Using Video

It is at the discretion of the judge and perhaps the judge didn't feel he could get an accurate time from the video.

accuracy

If you run clean the second time, it should be a faster run than the first one. If you have refusals or other mistakes it will skew the time by several seconds.

I don't see how running again can give you a more accurate time.

I'm not disputing it's the judges decision. Just the lack of logic behind the decision.

The times from the USDAA website were 33.64 and 33.98, my times were 33.634 and 33.984. Accurate to a 1/100th of second, can't get any closer than that.

Susan pull hamstring?

Looks like Susan pulled right hamstring & was limping and holding her butt at the end of the run. I didn't notice anyone coming to her aid...was she all right? Is she now out of commission for several months? Anyone know?

Susan Pulled Hamstring

Yes, Susan pulled her hamstring at the conclusion of the run. She iced it immediately and is currently rehabbing the injury. She should be good to go for the Nationals in Arizona.

Susan Pulled Hamstring

I had ham string pull on left side. It happened Jan of 2005, in an agility class, while running in a sawdust surface. I didn't stop my agility activities, so it continued to hurt for a long time afterward, probably for most of the year. It definitely slowed me down. Hurt so bad, sometimes made me cry.

So, I hope she takes it easy, and doesn't push it. She's an awesome competitor..and there's always next year.
