Impeccable Judging USDAA 2007

I only saw two classes this year, Steeplechase and Grand Prix Finals. But I thought the judging was impeccable. This video demonstrates the arduous task of judging the dogwalk for the big dogs.

Several times I've heard Scott Chamberlain say that a lot of judges give up on trying to judge both ends of the dogwalk. I reckon because they are overweight and not fit for the task at hand (my words not his). And that he prides himself on judging both ends.

Well he caught 3 big name handlers on the upside. The course seemed to be specifically designed for this purpose, with a straight approach to the dogwak coming from a tunnel.

Some people in the crowd questioned these calls, so I thought I'd check it out. And boy where they close calls. Indeed these three dogs missed the up contact by the slimmest of margins.

Ivie's USDAA Wekend

Some of Ivie's runs from this past weekend.  We went 5/8 with just tiny mistakes keeping us from the other Q's.  We're working better as a team every day!

Ivie goes MAD!

162 yards in 40.79 seconds in Masters Standard to earn her a 1st & Q and her MAD title on 18 November 2006. The lighting in the video is horrendous...but if you can look past that, it's a REALLY great run!! :)

Bay Team Regional - GP - Please turn!

The opening sequence of round 1 of the Bay Team Grand Prix regional proved to be very problematic for the dogs. A jump was placed to the left of the #2 frustrating long lead outs.

Early in the day handlers tried to do a post turn from 4 to 5, calling their dogs off the tunnel and doing a rear cross over 5 to the dogwalk. The dogs had a lot of momemtum coming over #3 and #4 and locked onto the tunnel.

Gamble Impossible

In honor of the recently released sequel to a very popular movie. Judge Tammy Domico brought us Gamble Impossible at the DART USDAA Team Tournament held May 12, 06.

Steeplechase 22" SWAT April 06

I put together a video of the entire 22" class from Round 2 of the Steeplechase from the SWAT trial in New Mexico, April 2, 2006. It is pretty big at 43 megabytes and 9 minutes long. It is the same course that the "Can you turn your dog" video came from. It is kinda of an experiment. Enjoy! And for some reason there was no course map for this class.
