The following is from the Stacy Peardot-Goudy Seminar, 1.17 - 1.19 in Happy Valley, AZ. Bold info for clarification added 1.26
Ever wonder what the time difference is between a double front cross (in this case could be called an RFP) at the weave poles and a front cross before and after? Here is the answer:
Weave Pole 1 - DSL
Weave Pole 1 - Dialup
Weave Pole 2 - DSL
Weave Pole 2 - Dialup
Hint: watch the timer in the lower left of the screen. The time starts as Pick's nose comes out of the tunnel and ends over the jump.
Honestly, I thought the front cross before and after felt faster but we didn't know for sure until we watched the video. Personally, it is my belief that the dog collects too much with the double front cross (RFP), even though the space taken up may be shorter. People at the seminar said "half a dozen of one, six of the other" but I will stick with my "before and after" with a difference of .27 seconds.
Is that a Pickle in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

I am confused a bit :I
I am confused a bit :
I thought the front cross before and after felt faster you say , but the overal time is faster !!
the "double frontcross "before actually an RFP confused the dog for a moment and thats where the time is lost .
with the front cross first the dog is slingshotted into the weaves
Doesnt seem to much of a difference about handlers position at ending of the poles !
anyway the shorter distance doesnt not always means faster , has to do with momentum :)

The RFP for sure slows the
The RFP for sure slows the dog down.
One reason I could think of handling it that way is if you were worried about an off course possiblity, opposite of the weave poles. The RFP would pretty much negate that.
Or your dog doesn't weave so well with you on the left.
Or perhaps the handler is too slow to make it to the end of the weave poles for the second front cross.
Aside from that, the front cross at the beginning and end of the poles seems to be much smoother for the dog.

:)
Just think there is a mixup here .
Video shows FC before and after is faster (in this case)
earlyer statement was it only felt faster but wasnt .
alternative to frontcrossing after the weavepoles ? run like hell and blindcross it , gets you in the same position as if you were comming from the right side of the poles :)
saves you loosing time to have to pivot around your own , see it all to often done nicely but late ( not in this video :) )
another alternative if you are on the left of the poles , is not to get to close to the exit but rather a bit more lateral ( is important) and curve towards the next obstacle sending the dog towards it in the process
