I just arrived here in Gillette, Wyoming for the NADAC Championships. They run Wednesday thru Sunday, September 20-24, 2006. The event is being held at a place called Cam-Plex indoors in a small horse arena.
It is enclosed on all sides, with relatively little sunlight making it in. The lighting is pretty dim and if I had to live inside the building I would get depressed pretty fast. Not that the dogs and handlers will have any problems with the lighting. It is just kind of dreary and my camera would like a little more light. I will have to crank the shutter speed down and maybe run a brightening filter on all the video afterwards. For people from SoCal, think of Pomona with walls.
There are some really nice grass field right outside, but of course then you have to worry about bad weather drowning out your event. Like what has happened to USDAA several times before moving to Scottsdale, AZ.
I drove up here from SoCal in a rental car, Chevy Malibu, very nice car, huge trunk. The trip took me north through Nevada, Utah and across Wyoming. This is my first trip to this beautiful and empty state, some would call it desolate. But I like it, easy to get lost. Not in the sense of not knowing where I am, but in the sense that no one else knows where I am.
They have Painted Pronghorns and other big grass eating animals running wild everywhere. And I mean everywhere. Here is a picture from the first rest stop.

Anyways stay tuned for more coverage including course maps and videos. I'm at the hotel trying to get organized for a change.
too late
I intented to do full reporting on this event. But with it going past 9pm each night, the last thing I felt like doing after a long day of videoing is sitting at the computer doing more.ÂÂ
It's all over....
Hi Eric,
The best of intentions got the better of you. Will you post your impressions and some video from the NADAC Championships when you get home to sunny California?
