Playing Grand Prix Final - teeter - instant replay

So I put together a video of some of the close teeter performances from the Grand Prix final. There is regular speed and slow motion at half speed. The only one that one called was the last one.

I'm not attacking the judge or trying to take away from anyone's accomplishments. Just suggesting maybe it's time for instant replay in the finals.

Speaking of using video in finals, did anyone watch the videos on the USDAA website of the winners of the Steeplechase Finals? In the video of the winner of the 12" division, I believe it is Whim, it looks like the dog goes over the final jump and the electronic timer does not stop right away. Almost like there was a malfunction and someone stopped it manually! Wendy

Well they were using 2 timegates at start and finish !!! ( one way to avoid reruns ;)  )

so if one failed what would be the chance of both failing . dont know if it was this run , but in one occasion I believe the judge noticed that too (display delay) went over to the timers and checked if the other gate  had worked correctly ( it took like one second for the judge to check and accept !)

furthermore , one can not rely on the display as that is a secondary connection to the real timing device and only hooked up to one of the receivers , the box in the hands of the timers receiving the primary signal is the correct one .

Using a regular video cam to check times would be inappropriate ( unless you spend $$$ on highspeed cameras ) as each frame ( standard ) takes 1/30 of a second or in case of some software 1/60 of a second ( in EU 1/25 - 1/50 )

IMO to 2 gates did their job but one can alwasy ask the judge in question ( Scott is the one I saw and check)

Back to the subject of the teeter, one shouldn't "attack the judge", but it does look like she blew the call several times. Guess she was so focused on being sure the dog hit the contact zone she didn't notice whether the teeter was touching the ground at the time. Let's just hope she and lots of other judges see this video. Live and learn, right?
