Here are the four winners from the USDAA Northwest Regional Grand Prix.
Congratulations to Rachel Sanders & Fable, Nancy Gyes & Ace, Deacon & Luka, and Shelley Permann & Letti.
Curous fact, all four winners are Agility Video Service customers. I wonder if there is some correllation between using video in your training program and winning Grand Prixs?Â

Re: USDAA Northwest Regional Grand Prix Winners
I have no idea, I don't get involved in instant replay controversies anymore.
Repeat after me, "The judge never makes a mistake", "The judge never makes a mistake"
Repeat after me, "We don't need instant replay", "We don't need instant replay"Â
Re: USDAA Northwest Regional Grand Prix Winners
Our class had a discussion about ethics and honesty. Some thought "you win some you lose some" which is what I have been told. Others said that if you absolutely knew the Judge or scribe made an error you should talk to the Judge about having it corrected. You are taking a placement from someone else. It happen to us once in a NADAC trial. Unfortunately I didn't realize until the evening (the downside of having dinner with the Judge : ) The Judge and I tried to get it corrected but the trial sect. said it was too much trouble. I felt bad because we had taken a placement from someone who had driven from another State to compete.
This is not about instant replay, I agree, lets not start that again. It is also not about "close calls" on refusals or contacts. It is about knowing you didn't Q.
What is the "right thing" to do?
Cheers,
Jean
Re: USDAA Northwest Regional Grand Prix Winners
Okay, as the handler involved, here are some missing facts.Â
I talked to the judge as soon as humanly possible regarding the dropped bar that someone told me about when I exited the ring. I didn't know it had dropped while on course, the judge didn't know or see it either.  He decided after conferring with another judge on-site that as video results cannot be used (per USDAA direction according to the judge) to benefit a handler, they shouldn't be used to negate a run either. So he chose to leave the results as is.Â
I would have accepted any decision made by the judge. And did. Does this answer your question?  :)

Re: USDAA Northwest Regional Grand Prix Winners
Shelley,
This wasn't intended to be specific but I am glad you responded.I compete in 3 venues and really want to know what is the right thing to do. . You talked to the Judge and he decided.
I am guilty of accepting a Q when one of my boys skipped a pole. I was told that was the way it goes sometimes. No one suggested I bringing it to the Judges attention. In another case, which just happens to be USDAA, the Judge miss called an unusual situation on a Gambles run and we didn't Q. At a later trial he apologized for his misinterpretation of the rule book. But of course the Q was gone.
As you might expect I am getting a bit confused. I was firmly on the side of if the Judge doesnt call it....now I am not sure.Â
Cheers,
Jean
