Our agility class wants to use hoops at both ends of the teeter to help train our dogs to touch the contact zone and to not do fly-offs. But we need your suggestions as to the design.
We have decided that the hoop should meet the following requirements:
1. It must not pose a possible injury to the dog should the dog run into it or jump on to it.
2. To meet the first requirement, we have considered a flexable material, possibly rubber tubing or garden hose.
3. It should bend or move left and right if the dog bumps into it while passing through it. In this regard, we have considered a bent tube with the ends mounted on verticle coil springs.
4. It should not be easily knocked over, if at all.
5. It should be the same width as the teeter.ÂÂ
6. Hoops should be easily changed to accommodate various size dogs.
Question: Should the hoops be attached directly to the teeter or placed on the ground?
Please consider that the dogs will be passing though the hoops at full speed.
Your design suggestions will be sincerely appreciated.

hoop design
Try pool 'noodles' ... They are about 5 feet long and I have used them mounted to 1/2" pvc to make a 'hoops' for the end of the dogwalk. I think you would have to mount the hoop to the teeter. Not sure how effective this would be to prevent flyoffs.... but at least it would be safe!!
