The Origins of Mental Power
By Lanny R. Bassham

This is what Clean Run said about his book.
"Are you ready for a life-changing experience? Two people have a conversation on a long plane trip from New York to Cairo Egypt. One is an Olympic Medalist and the other is someone who will offer a truly unforgettable story that will take you, along with the medalist, to a new understanding of the origins of mental power. Lanny's new book, based on true events and real people, is an unforgettable story of survival and attainment, of becoming and accomplishment, as one man's experiences empower another man's future. Take a seat next to the champion as his life is about to change."

Your experience with the CD?

I was just checking out your website, and see that you and your Sheltie Jeep have quite a list of accomplishments.

Did this CD help you out a lot with mental management? How so?

Good CDs...

Yep, Lanny helped me out quite a bit! I'm not usually nervous, but I found his CD's a great starting point to learning more about mental management. It's a really big part your ring performance. Nervous handlers give off nervous energy to their dogs.

I have a student with a dog who had major table problems. Each time she would run the dog would do everything it could to avoid the table. I had her tape herself before entering the ring. You could see the worried look on her face, by the time she got to the table her voice was considerably higher and her hands were waving all over the place. Her nervous energy over the dog's table was causing them both to freak out. She listened to Lanny's CD, as well as Jane Savoie's, and worked really hard on calming her nerves. She would drink tea in the morning instead of coffee, listen to music and eat mints before she went in the ring. After a few trials of using her new stress-avoidance skills, her dog was happily hopping on the table and downing right away.

Lanny Bassham's Mental Managment Program

I've had Lanny Bassham's orignial book, "With Winning In Mind" for years. Success or failure in competition is primarily a result of what's in your head, and Bassham shows you how to make the most of the grey matter you've got!

I've just finished listening to his audio CD on "What Every Agility Competitor Needs to Know," and think it's a great starting point or refresher for what you may have already learned.

In "With Winning In Mind," Bassham explains how to build a mental managment program that fits you. It works. Writing affirmations, writing goals, visualization of positive results, keeping a journal. It works. Oh, I said that already. That's a base point of his work - repetition of good thoughts works. It sounds so simple!!! Yet, it takes work to achieve.

His material never goes out of style, and I never go to a trial without Bassham's book or my journal in my knapsack.
