Buds Front & Finish artical

Bud,

Is there an error in the last illustration? Jump #3 is not shown.  I am not sure how one could do a post turn at #2 and be ahead enough of a fast dog to execute the FC.

Cheers,

Which?

I'm sorry... I'm not too sure to what article you are referring. It could be there's an error in the article. I'd be happy to clarify if I can figure out which you're talking about.

Sorry, I am having to be brief, in between computer crashes and sticky keys. : (

You wrote about "Squaring the Front Cross".

The illustration is of a Hobday jumping box with jumps numbered 1, 2, 4 & 5.

The dog is sent over jumps 1 & 2. "The  handler leaves the landing side of jump 2 in a Post Turn  (keeping dog on the right) and runs to the top of his own lane for the upcomig turn. The handler gets further away from jump 3 as he moves."

If my dog is on my left hand to start and I do a post turn wouldnt he still be on my left hand? I am on the outside of the box, layering jump 4 (3?) so may be quick enough to get ahead of my dog enough to square up the turn by going further out from jump 4 (3?).

I am a little confused.

Cheers,

Jean

It should have said left

You are absolutely right... it should have said left.

I've always know, as a writer, that I require the services of an editor. Often I just can't see the forest from the trees. When I write for Clean Run they edit me right down to the punctuation (not to mention everything PC). But when I submit to OffLead or F&F... what I'm writing is so over their heads that the article gets plugged pretty much as I wrote it.

Bud

Thanks. One last question...are the jumps numbered correctly?

Is jump 3, actually the tunnel as in the previous illustrations?

Off to play the squaring game.
