Don’t Look or This Years Birds in Last Years Nest

I know it seems as though I’ve dropped off the face of the earth. Spring has brought with it an abundance of chores that daily manage to get me dirty and make me tired. However it’s delightful seeing things done. I have to turn my attention to the web log mostly because I have mini‑clinic tomorrow and must have a lesson plan and get a set-up on the floor.

Theme of the training

Every training session needs a theme or objective. And of course the theme should match the immediate needs of my students. With this in mind I’ve got to get the big dogwalk back out on the floor so that we can do some proofing of contacts. Also, I need the weave poles out again so that we can proof a variety of approaches.

And of course the set-up I’ve settled on gives us an opportunity to work on the dread discrimination, when two obstacles are placed in close proximity. We’ll discuss the handler’s attack on the pinwheel. And, as ever we will look at a variety of start-line strategies like leading out, and sling-shot starts.

Bud, Good discrimination at the tunnel exit on the first on.I like how you move the team across the mid-court with the serpentine on the second one.Don't you find it humorous how judges have rediscovered the Hobaday box, again. It's a wonderful training tool for young dogs and old handlers alike.Have fun. Hey Rick,

Can you be more precise as to which one you are wondering about solution?

Anyhow, funny you should note the Hobday box. As you might have noticed, I'm doing a series on boxwork. And I agree, it's a basic kind of training format from which we can approach all sorts of objectives.
