Copyright Information

For all the honest and people of character out there in the world, I thank you for respecting our intellectual property and our hard work.

I never imagined that I would have to write about this and waste a beautiful Sunday afternoon researching this topic but after recieving a email recently asking if it would be okay to rent a audio/visual room at a local community college and display a public performance of Linda Mecklenburg's Foundation Handling Seminar I got extremely annoyed and have drawn a line in the sand.

All videos on Agility Vision are copyrighted and are registered with the Copyright Office (this entitles me to sue in civil court for Statutory Damages and attorney fees). It is prohibited and illegal for anyone to put on a public performance of any video that is available on Agility Vision.  It is also prohibited to purchase a video which is licensed for your personal use and charge other people to watch it in the privacy of your home (ie share in the costs). Under copyright law your family members who live with you are allowed to watch.

I'm hoping by spelling out in no uncertain terms that this is prohibited and if neccessary we are willing to file a civil suit to protect our interests and intellectual property. But if not, I really will go through with a lawsuit to get the point across and to protect our intellectual property and time and effort we put into producing the videos.

Why anyone would think it would be okay to steal from someone they know and probably have met or seen in person at an agility trial is beyond me. I can understand people rationalizing stealing from a big faceless corporation that takes in millions or billions of dollars a year in profit. But to steal from a friend or acquaintance?? I don't get it.
