Agility Action folds their tent

I just read on the home page of Agility Action that they have decided to stop publishing their monthly online agility magazine. Their magazine seemed to be devoted to beginners and the not so serious competitor. This may have had something to do with it. Who wants to think of themselves as not serious, or a beginner.

Everyone starts out in agility thinking their going to be on the world team, win Nationals, be the first with breed X to beat all the border collies. No one says to themselves "I suck really bad and I'm kind of stupid, is their a magazine that caters to me?"

Earlier in the summer Agility in Motion posted on their website that they are no longer doing subscriptions for their Videozine series. Though they are still producing issues of their Videozine.

In the last month USDAA has started publishing "articles" on their website, available only to subscribers. Which they have hired an editor Brenna Fender to run. It will be interesting to see where that goes.

And of course the juggernaut Clean Run continues to roll on. Catering to all the serious competitors, future world team members and instructors out their. All 20% of you, no I mean 80% of you. Wink

I find this all interesting since I "publish" agility videos on Agility Vision. In the beginning I actually had planned on changing to a subscriber or advertising based business model. Along the way I nixed the idea and decided to keep it open.

As soon as you make it a subscription or even take in advertisiers, you just made yourself a job. It would no longer be fun and I would probably start to hate it. Especially if I didn't have a lot of subscribers or advertisers.

Not too mention having to provide technical support (which I hate), watching that I don't offend anyone, etc, etc. I prefer to be free, living in a shack on the outskirts of Los Angeles in the Mojave Desert.

So in the meantime Agility Vision serves as a great tool for showcasing what I'm capable of doing with videos, the internet and dog agility.

At least until USDAA hires me to do a internet broadcast/coverage of all the regionals. Tongue out

Enjoy!
